Barbara Ann Stone (Abell)

October 21, 1926 - November 29, 2021

Barbara Ann Stone died peacefully on November 29th. She was born October 21, 1926 to James S. and Clarice J. Stone of Indianapolis Indiana. She graduated from St. Agnes High School, attended Butler University, and worked in the banking industry throughout her twenties. Afterwards, her life as a homemaker and dedicated and loving mother of three children was in Brownsburg Indiana. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal church in Speedway Indiana She so loved the change of seasons living in the small Hoosier town and its simple pleasures. But, her greatest joy was family, and she delighted in caring and providing for her children. Throughout her life she lived by a creed of generosity, compassion, and genuine caring for everyone she met. Her favorite pastime was writing letters to those she loved the most. Barbara is survived by her children: Mark (Bonnie) Rody of Gulfport, MS; Karen (Paul) Patterson of Columbus, OH; and Martin (Heather) Rody of Brownsburg. She also is survived by grandchildren whom she loved greatly, and would smile broadly at the mention of their names: Amy, Mark, Leah, Emma, Grace, and great-grandson Joshua. Grave site services at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to your local food bank.
