Eleanor M. (Geary) Burke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Eleanor M. (Geary) Burke, age 87, passed away on December 24, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born March 26,1934 in Point Marion, PA to the late George W. and Lillian R. (McCahon) Geary of Fayette City, PA. Preceded in death by the love of her life for more than 56 years, Richard P. Burke in 2009, beloved grandson, Timothy Cappell in 2018, and brothers, Lawrance, James, William and David Geary, all of Western PA. Survivor's included children, Geary (Jessica) Burke, Kathleen (Mike) Cappell, Brian Burke (Deb Osborne) and Julie (Jim) Voss, loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, remaining siblings, Robert Geary, Janice Francis and Loretta Yancoskie, all of Western PA, Stewie, her loyal companion and protector of 12 years, many family throughout the US as well as, cherished neighbors, Casey and Denise Adams of Groveport, OH. Eleanor selflessly dedicated her entire life to her family and country, traveling the world for more than 20 years as the wife of a USAF Service Member. She lived life with such strenght and heart, remaining positive throughout many of life's unforeseen challenges. She always handled herself with grace and optimism, with a bit of a feisty edge. A longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Groveport, she was a women of great faith and a faithful prayer warrior. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan as well as Penn State Football, as she always stayed true to her roots. Eleanor was a true humanitarian, supporting various non-profits, locally and nationwide. She served as a member of The Colorguard, American Legion, Bexley Post #430. Throughout the years, she volunteered countless hours at many community Stand Downs in support of homeless veterans, partnering in community based events and celebrations and visiting nursing facilities. In her later years, she met many dear friends at The Groveport Senior Center, where she always looked forward to spending the day with friends. Thank you to the wonderful staff of VITAS Hospice Ohio for the loving care and support provided during such a challenging time. A very special thank you to Dr. James Soldano for his love, support, and care for over 45 years. We love you, Dr. Soldano.
