Frances “Fran” Evans
February 13, 2022
Frances R Evans of Dublin, Ohio went to her heavenly home Sunday February 13, 2022. She was a beloved mother, MaMa, and great grandmother. Fran was born in Columbia Hill, Tennessee to the late Porter and Lee Oda Phillips and is reunited in heaven with her parents, stepfather Dwight Evans, siblings Harlan Phillips, Wilma Dean Watters, Edward Phillips, Fay Terrell and grandchildren Conor Rains, Penelope Jasko and Eleanor McBride. Fran is survived by her children Scott Rains (Maggie), Jeff Rains (Karen), Missy Jacobs (Tom) and Alicia De Francesco (Nick) and nineteen “perfect” grandchildren, fourteen “even more amazing” great grandchildren, sisters Marilyn Evans, Shirley Blair (Don), Dorothy Turner, Kay Wolff and brother Arlow Phillips (Melissa). Mom had a deep relationship with Jesus and left a legacy of Christ followers. She lived her faith by loving others through kindness and generosity. MaMa was fiercely devoted to her family and cherished the time they spent together. She especially loved anything related to her grandchildren. Mama went to every game, every meet that she was able and could always be heard cheering on the sidelines. She could also be heard telling anyone within hearing distance just how amazing her grandchildren were. At times to the point of embarrassment, but in hindsight, those “brags” are now even more precious. Fran was a great cook and baker with favorite recipes of chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, chocolate cake and banana pudding. She put those recipes to good use over and over with her gift of hospitality. MaMa would spend hours planning dinners and parties and loved combing through cookbooks. But, her gift of hospitality was not limited to food. She opened her home on numerous occasions for those who needed a place to stay for a night or a year. Length of time did not matter, her door was always open. MaMa was an avid sportsperson and passed her love of the outdoors to her children and grandchildren. She loved fishing and had a great love for animals, especially her grand dogs and grand cat, Grey Kitty. MaMa had a great sense of humor, loved to tease and being teased. She was also known for her famous swivel hip dance move and asking for a "half glass of wine”, expecting a BIG glass “half full”. Fran had a long career in the dental laboratory industry, working for forty years in Dayton and Columbus and put it to good use pulling countless teeth of her grandchildren. MaMa loved fully, taught her children well and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and knowing she was joining loved ones in Heaven. We miss her already, but we are grateful she is with her Maker, Jesus.
