James Pappas, 90, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2015. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he was the eldest son of Steve and Stella (Condis) Pappas. A Prisoner of War and decorated Veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army. He worked and retired from The Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus, OH. He was a lifelong member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Columbus as well as a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota, FL. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dorthothy (Phillips) Pappas, his parents and brothers Gus and George Pappas. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna, his daughter, Dianne (George) Kohelis; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Nik) Kamarados and Angela (Ray) Dobson; and two great grandchildren, Maria and George Kamarados; along with his sister, Tonie Mormino; his Godchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 555 N. High St. on Friday, August 28 from 9:30-11 a.m. with the funeral immediately following. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
