John E. "Ed" Barber, 86, died on April 22 after a short illness. Resident of Claremont Retirement Village. He retired from The Herman Falter Packing Company. Ed was a proud US Army veteran. Preceded in death by wife of 39 years Shirley Schmitz Barber; sister, Joanne Schoop; and brother, Robert Barber. Survived by stepson, Mark (Margo) Pendleton; sisters, Margaret Fore, Pat (Dana) Shivers; brother, William (Elphia) Barber; sisters-in-law Dian Dutro, and Marianne Davis; brother-in-law, Robert (Jenny) Schmitz; numerous nieces and nephews, and special care-givers Chris & Kay Christopoulos. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, from 1:00 pm until the time of funeral service at 2:00 pm at O.R. Woodyard Northwest Chapel, 2990 Bethel Rd. Private interment at Sunset Cemetery at a later date.
