Kenneth Bates, 25,705 days old, of Columbus, OH, passed away on January 27, 2021. Kenneth made his grand entrance into the world when he blasted out of the womb on September 16, 1950. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Venus Bates; his infant brother, Jerry Bates; and son, Kenneth "BJ" Bates Jr. He is survived by his children, Michael Bates and Kimberly Bates; grandchildren, Aaron Berry, William (Fiancee, Patricia Brown) Lanning, Hailey Bates, and Paul Bates; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Daniel (Debbie) Bates, Donnie (Pam) Bates, and Dennis Bates; sister, Brenda Sprouse; many nieces and nephews along with a special niece and caretaker, Cindy Brown. Kenneth was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. South Chapel, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus, OH. A private graveside service will follow at Obetz Cemetery in Obetz, OH. Masks are required for all that attend the visitation.
