Larry Holbrook, age 68, of Columbus passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5th at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born June 12, 1949 in Louisa, Kentucky to Goldie (Copley) and Odell Holbrook. Larry attended South High School and went on to receive his GED in the United States Army. He proudly served from 1967 to 1970 and was a Vietnam War veteran. Larry married Linda Sue Fullen on August 5, 1973. He was employed by DeSoto, now Sherwin Williams, from 1970 until his retirement in 2004. Larry was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and bowler, with multiple perfect score games. He also had a passion for restoring cars, was trained in woodworking and was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns football team. He was a lifetime member of AMVETS and the American Legion Post 144. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda; daughters, Lisa (Chris) Roberts and Goldie Holbrook; son, Shawn (Tara) Holbrook; grandchildren, Emily Holbrook, Aaron and Zachary Roberts, Edison and Elliott Holbrook; great-grandson, Joshua LaPelusa; sister, Betty Willis. He is preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Holbrook; father, Odell Holbrook; brothers, Gary, Jackie, Donnie and sister, Kathy. Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10th from 2pm to 6pm at the O.R. WOODYARD SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St, where funeral service will be held Monday at 10am. Interment to follow at Obetz Cemetery, 4455 Groveport Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
