Lenada B. Backus

Lenada Backus, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2021. She was born on September 13, 1941 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late James Wesley and Willa Baars. Lenada was very involved in New Life Church and many charities throughout the years. She was one of a kind: she was witty, had a contagious laugh, and an adventurous spirit that will be missed by many. She was close and very loyal to her family, Lenada was one of a kind and never knew a stranger. She is preceded in death by her parents: James Wesley and Willa Baars; her husband, Harold Backus who passed away in 2005; brother, Dick Baars; nephew, Scott Baars; cousins James Looney and Bobby Thompson. Lenada is survived by her nephews, Douglas (Marie) Baars and Pierre Patry; nieces, Michaela (Keith) Koenig and Tawnia (Al) Amleh; Lenada is also survived by long time close friends, Jim Whipple and Susan Frey, Kathleen and Don Griffith; along with many other friends, too numerous to list. Visitation will be held at O.R. Woodyard Co. South Chapel on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM. Funeral will be held on Monday at 11 AM, Pastor Steve Benninger officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Central Ohio Youth for Christ, P.O. Box 14804, Columbus, OH 43214.
