Mary Bailey

July 7, 1933 - October 23, 2021

On October 23, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, Mary Bailey peacefully left this earthly realm to join her heavenly family. She was 88 years old. Mary was born on July 11, 1933 in Martin county, Kentucky, the daughter of Ralph and Carrie Reed. She married her sweetheart, Thaddeus Bailey in 1954, and settled in Columbus Ohio where they built a life, raising their 4 children. She and her husband Thad worked tirelessly to provide for their kids, imparting on them the importance of putting God and family first. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Her hands were rarely still, from working in the church to gardening and caring for her children, grandchildren, & great-grand children. She often shared her love with food such as fresh baked pies, and treating family and friends to her amazing home cooked Southern style gravy and biscuit breakfast. She would proudly boast about all her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren all the way to the very end. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Not a day will go by that her presence wont be missed, but we are comforted that her suffering is finally over and she is forever safe in the arms of Jesus. In addition to her parents , Mary was predeceased in death by her husband of 60 plus years Thaddeus bailey, her son Daniel Bailey, Brothers; Bill Reed, James Reed, Ray Reed, Arnold Reed & Johnny Reed. She is survived by her daughters, Maryann Baldwin and her husband Everett Baldwin of Kodak, Tennessee, Dorthy (Dory) Walton and her husband Barry Walton of Powell, Ohio, Sons Vern Bailey and wife Dana Bailey of Columbus, Ohio, Bill Bailey and wife Annette Bailey of Leesburg, Fl. Seven grandchildren, Sherry Hudson, Julie Baldwin, Brian Dowden, Angie Gamblin, Daniel Bailey, Billy Bailey, and Mariellen Bailey, & five great grandchildren, Jullian Stephenson, Jessica Featherling, McKenna Hudson, Austin Garwatoski & Logan Bailey; Sister Bertha Jane of Kentucky and Brother Albert Reed of Ohio; along with many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at O.R. Woodward Funeral Home- 587 Main St. Groveport, Ohio on October 25, 2021 from to 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10am at Crossroads Baptist church- 3228 Lockbourne Rd. Columbus, Ohio. A reception and time of fellowship will follow back at crossroads church following the cemetery ceremony.
