Sarah Genevieve Lilly Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sarah Genevieve Lilly was born April 29, 1927, in Kanawha County West Virginia to the late William and Zoma Hughes. On September 30, 1944 she married Sam Rayburn Joe Lilly from St. Albans, WV, who was serving in the US Navy in WWII. They lived in St. Albans until 1985 when they moved to Columbus, OH where she resided until her death on June 28, 2022, in the Abbington Assisted Living facility under the care of CapCity Hospice. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, six sisters and one brother. Sarah is survived by her three sons, Larry (Patty) of Columbus, Chester (Susan) of Mills River, NC, and Michael (Vella) of St. Albans, WV; sister, Rosezena Cummins of WV; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, who provided her with much joy. She was a life long Christian and attended Meadow Park Church of God for the last 35years. On her meager social security, she supported the church and sponsored international children through the Children of Promise charity. She was an extremely hard worker, including serving her church and neighbors tirelessly. She could often be found with crochet in her lap, the results of which she gifted abundantly. Her later years were made more special by her dog Katy and visits by her grands. She baby sat for her grands up until her late 80's which she loved. Even with her decline over the last two years a visit from her great-grandson Seth would bring a big smile to her face and she loved having him lifted to her lap where he would give her a big hug. Family and friends may gather Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 2 pm until the time of memorial service at 3 pm at O. R. Woodyard Northwest 2990 Bethel Rd.
