Violet "Bun" Carter, age 89, of Columbus, Ohio born in Carter County, Ky on March 31, 1932 to Maye Taylor Adams and Raleigh Adams. She passed away peacefully Monday, July 5, 2021 at home surrounding by her loving family. On June 18, 2021, she came home with hospice comfort care. In addition to her parents, Violet is preceded in death by her husband Theodore Carter, her daughter Patricia Ann Church, her son Philip Hayes, her siblings Kyle Hall, Georgia "Jan" Burchett, Darwin "Bee" Adams, Wilodyne "Doll" Bliton, Thelma Carter, George Adams, Lucy Waugh, Dessie Hall, and Norabell Thompson. Violet is survived by son Charles (Rita) Hayes and daughter Janice (Dale) Harris of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren Holly Landis of Amanda, Ohio; Jennifer Orta and Jakey Harris of Columbus, Ohio; Philip (Aarolyn) Hayes and Jeremy Hayes of Florida. Great grandchildren Sara Hayes, Caleb Hayes, and Jacob Landis of Amanda Ohio; Heaven Orta, Noah Orta, Jonah Orta, Alexzander Orta, and Joshua Orta of Columbus, Ohio. Brothers Raleigh "Tade" Adams and Matt "Buck" Adams. She has numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends. To her family she was known as "Bun". She always kept busy and was a hard-working independent woman who took care of her family. She enjoyed being surrounded by family. She was a great cook and always ready to feed her visitors a down home meal. She loved raising a garden and canning the vegetables. She always had a green thumb and beautiful flowers. Other hobbies included driving to Kentucky to spend time, sewing, making quilts, and playing cards. She was always ready to give a hand to help. She will be remembered and missed by so many. On June 18, 2021, she came home to hospice comfort care. Her granddaughter, Jennifer Orta, took great care of her and stayed with her around the clock until the time she passed away. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the O.R. WOODYARD CO 1346 S. HIGH ST where the funeral service will take place on Friday at 1pm. Pastor Jay Schlenker officiating.
