Albert Henry
Eastman
Nov 26, 1932 — Feb 1, 2023
Albert Henry Eastman, beloved patriarch to six children and ten grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Albert was born November 26, 1932 in Cleveland, OH to Albert and Doris (Manz) Eastman. He received his degree from Kenyon College and his MBA from Cornell University. A lifelong patriot, he served as Counterintelligence for the US Army in the Korean War. Over the course of his life, Albert held executive roles at International Silver and Scott Paper Company, was CEO of Total Marketing Concepts, and even ran a yacht detailing business until he was 86 that he started in Florida after he moved south to "retire."
Besides being ever-present for his greatest love, his family, Albert had a passion for many things in his life. He was a decorated swimmer and an expert sailor. Able to navigate by the stars, he served as an educator and Commodore of the Power Squadron. As a lifelong volunteer, he gave his whole heart and focus to serving those most in need. He was an electric showman, larger than life in all areas including musical theater. A devout Episcopalian, he was active in the community and choirs at his church. His decades-long, annual performance as the Gold King in the Nativity pageant is still remembered far and wide.
Albert had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and loved reading and traveling as ways to continue learning. He instilled that sense of curiosity and adventure into his family. Always adoring and playful with his children and grandchildren, the question, "Dad, do you have a second" was met with, "I always have time for you" until the end. He will be remembered by his family, not only for his unconditional love and incomparable advice, but also as their gifted chef, casually whipping up beef bourguignon, delicious cocktails and "yummies" for all to enjoy.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and his mother, Doris. He is survived by his brother Robert (Mary) and his adored children Patricia (Andrew), Leslie, James, Elizabeth, Brooke (Christophe) and Soozie as well as his beloved grandchildren Michael, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Evan, Nathan, Taylor, Spencer, Justin, Katelyn and baby of the family, Irie.
A memorial will be held this spring at St. Francis in the Fields in Louisville, KY. Donations may be made in his honor to the ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund or Salvation Army. Albert's life is accurately summarized in the words of one of his favorites, Frank Sinatra, "I've lived a life that's full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way."
A memorial service will be Sunday, June 18th, 2023 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 10 E. 4th St. in London, OH at 2 p.m. Military honors will immediately follow.
