Alys Ruth (Horton) Karst, 89, passed peacefully from this life on February 16, 2014. She was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by nine siblings, and one great grandchild. She is survived by two sisters; one brother; her loving and devoted husband, Larry E. Karst; five children, Ron Detamore (Kay Brubaker), Jerry Detamore (Kathy), Jamie Smith (Gary), Debbie Kempf (John), Angie Karst (Aaron); four stepchildren, Debbie Morehart, Drew Karst (Debbie), Aaron Karst (Angie), Eric Karst; a combined 21 grandchildren, and 20 great-grand-children, and many other close friends and family. She was born April 9, 1924, in West Virginia to the late James and Rosa Horton. She provided loving childcare for 15 years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, birds and dolls and spending time with loved ones. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the 4th floor MICU at Mt. Carmel West. Their kindness and attention during our time of need was truly appreciated. Friends may call Wednesday, February 19 at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 1346 S.
