Barbara Sue Hamilton Johnson, 78, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on May 5th, 2025, at 1:20 am. Her beloved parents, James and Ethel Malone and her biological father, William Jackson Hamilton, preceded her in death. Leaving to mourn her loss is her husband of 33 years, Abner Fouche' Johnson, two children, Deirdra Rhea (Keith) Ferguson, and Daniel Lee (Sheryl) Douglass, sisters Dorothy (D) Malone and Patricia (Jeffrey) Smith, brother Willie Tyrone Malone. Also surviving Barbara are grandchildren Alyssa Desiree Douglass, Hugh Eugene Butler IV, Malik Leland Douglass, great grandchild Demetri Makaih Ledbetter and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and touched souls who loved her dearly and whom she loved.

Barbara graduated from Columbus West High School and attended Ohio Dominican University School of Lifelong Learning, earning an associate's degree. She also attended and completed the Gospel Lighthouse School of Ministry coursework. Additionally, Barbara attended and completed many classes, workshops, training courses and seminars related to what she believed was her spiritual calling: ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to at-risk women, children and men as well.

Barbara accepted Jesus as her Savior on Mother's Day, 1986 at First Church of God under Pastor Timothy J. Clarke and was baptized soon after. She then spent the next 13 years witnessing, teaching and ministering the Gospel to souls in every incarceration facility and homeless shelter in Central Ohio while working at the Ohio Department of Transportation until her retirement in 2000. During this experience, Barbara met and became ministry partners with Abner Fouche' Johnson who eventually became her best friend and marital soulmate for the rest of their lives together on earth.

Barbara was a Great Woman of God. She had a tremendous capacity for love, forgiveness, courage and empathy. She possessed a mental toughness and strong determination and commitment to God, which served her well as a church nursery helper, media ministry volunteer, Altar worker, member of the Deacon's ministry of First Church of God, First Lady of Sigsbee Avenue Church of God and Abundant Life Christian Ministries, Samaritan Ministry Outreach Group and ODOT noon Bible Study which took place in her office at work. Through her efforts and God's Grace, many hundreds of souls have found deliverance, healing, direction and salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. As we said, Barbara was a Great Woman of God.

God's work through this beloved servant, has caused His Kingdom to be expanded and made stronger and more effective because our dear 'Sister Barbara' passed this way. We celebrate her life, the depth of her love through Christ and what is now the impact of her legacy in the Kingdom of God.
