Laser Betty Jo Laser (Pelfrey), age 82, went home to the Lord on December 14, 2016 surrounded by her family at her home in Hilliard, Ohio. Born in Elliottville, Kentucky to the late Gracie and Asbury Pelfrey, she graduated from Mansfield High School. After graduation, she lived in Marion, Ohio for several years then put down roots in Hilliard. Lovingly known to many as "Big Granny", she was a longtime resident of Hilliard, Ohio, where she owned The Elegant Lady Beauty Salon then retired from Meijer. Betty is preceded in death by siblings Christine Lemaster, Aaron Pelfrey and Bill Pelfrey. She is survived by her loving children, Douglas Layton, Teresa Lemaster (Johnny), Gary Laser (Sheila); grandchildren, Jeremy Lemaster (Jennifer), Jamie Williams, Devin Layton, Travis Layton, Jeffrey Laser and Ashley McNamara (Kyle). She was blessed to have six great grandchildren, Alex and Caleb Lemaster, Madison and Morgan Williams and Logan and Rylee Layton. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Bob Pelfrey (Ginny), Bernice Everman and Jacqlyn Sparks. Betty loved the Lord above all else. She attended Northwest Bible Church. She was a gentle soul who adored her family and friends. She was a lover of all things sweet, enjoyed baking, sewing, reading and ceramics. She loved to pull pranks back in her younger years and was always the feisty one of the bunch and was the life of any gathering. She worked hard to provide for her family and being a mother was one of her greatest accomplishments. Big Granny was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. The family will receive friends Monday, December 19, from 12 noon until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at O. R. WOODYARD NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd. Cory DiCarro officiating.
