Betty Louise (Brobst) Basye, age 90, was called to heaven on September 22, 2026. She was met by her loving husband of 50 years, Bob; her parents, Charles and Alta Brobst; her siblings, Art, Paul, Donald, Carl and Thelma; and her granddaughter, Jenny. She leaves her legacy to live on through her children, Bobby (JoAnn), Ruthie, Danny (Diane) and Jimmy (Annette); her grandchildren, Danielle, Michael (Sharron), Chrissy (Everett), Bess, Donald (Holly) and Nickie (Paul); along with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was a homemaker while her children were growing up, only deciding to work in her later years at Schottenstein’s department store.

Betty was a selfless woman who dedicated any time and money she had to crocheting hats for people in need. They were donated to churches, homeless camps, doctor’s offices and anyone she saw without one. Some of her hats are even in different countries.

When she wasn’t crocheting, she was on the go. She would use any excuse to leave the house and go for a walk. She considered the south side of Columbus her “old stomping grounds,” and when she couldn’t go on those walks anymore, she loved to be driven around so she could point out places or things to talk about memories of the past, which she called "the good ol' days". But before she headed home, she would stop by the store to stock up on her very favorite Hershey candy bars.

She loved spending time helping at Lois Mann’s Restaurant and listening to the live music on the weekends.

Betty was well known for loving country music, The Andy Griffith Show, Abraham Lincoln, birds (especially cardinals), squirrels, and animals. She collected cardinals, bird houses, Abe Lincoln statues and books, and angels. She loved hand-feeding the squirrels and her neighbors nicknamed her “Snow White”.

Betty loved baking pies and was most famous for her “titty cakes”. Everyone who knew Betty considered her a kind, sweet, loving and caring friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Visitation for Betty will be Monday September 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at O. R. Woodyard Co. South High St. Chapel, 1346 S. High St. Columbus, Oh. 43207, where funeral services will be held Tuesday September 29, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Pastor Eli Seitz officiating. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
