Bouakhay Phouthavong, age 89, of Groveport, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1937, in Laos. Bouakhay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a beautiful spirit that lit up every room she entered, and her smile was truly contagious. Known for her unconditional love, she stood by her family with understanding and guided them with grace and wisdom throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phoukhong Phouthavong, and her son, Sivixay Phouthavong. She is survived by her children and their families: Sivixay Phouthavong (deceased), children Bruce, Andrew, and Timothy; Viengsamay (Robert) Lytle, son Adam Lytle; Phimmasone (Khammone) Phimmasone,  children Megan, Mike, and Shoulin; Thavone (Tom) Sengamphan, children Alec and Preston; Veomany Phouthavong, (Andrea Walker),  son Deric Phouthavong; and Phanomphone (Andrea) Phouthavong,  children Schylar, Peyton, Kami, Phanomphone, and Mya. Bouakhay was blessed with nine great-grandchildren. Their laughter and love will forever echo the warmth she shared so freely. Her legacy is one of deep family bonds, cultural pride, and a life lived with grace and dignity. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire kindness, strength, and love for generations to come. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family find comfort in the enduring love she so generously gave.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the O.R. WOODYARD  CO. South Chapel, 1346 S. High St. in Columbus, OH.
