Obituary

Our beloved, Candis Lynn Robertson, 76, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away on March 02, 2025 after years of battling lung cancer, which ultimately spread throughout her spine. Candis was born on December 25, 1948 to Phillip and Goldie Ashby in Hastings, Nebraska.

Candis married and took on motherhood at an early age. After her marriage ended, Candis moved to Columbus, Ohio where her siblings and mother resided. Candis later moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1981, where she worked in customer service as a waitress. Candis became a grandmother for the first time In 1994 and soon moved back to Columbus, Ohio.

Candis enjoyed being a grandmother more than anything. She was known by all for being a proud and loving grandmother, often boasting about her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to church every week at her home church, Vineyard Christian Church, and participating in bible study with her church group. Candis loved spending time with family and friends.

Candis was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Ashby, her father, Phillip Ashby, her brother, Richard Ashby, and her nephew, Tony Ashby.

She is survived by her only sister, Constance Ashby, Brothers Timothy Ashby and Patrick Ashby, Daughters Tammy Robertson and Misty Robertson, Sister in laws Della Ashby and Laurel Ashby, Son in law George Phillips, Stepsons, John Robertson Jr. and Thomas Robertson, Her 8 loving grandchildren, Jodeci, Chase, Jessika, Cole, Rick, Julian, Mary, & Marcus, and her 3 amazing great grandchildren , Kendrick, Navy, & Atticus.

Candis also leaves behind many loving and amazing nephews and nieces, whom she also enjoyed boasting about, cousins, a loving and supportive church family, and countless friends.

Candis was a big personality in a small package. She had an impact on each person she interacted with. She was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, full of joy, and a ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived her life to the fullest, despite her many challenges. Her greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her children , grandchildren, great grandchildren, and church family.

Candis' life will be celebrated on Friday, March 14th at Vineyard Christian Church, 1055 McNaughten Rd Columbus, Ohio 43213. Visitation/Viewing will begin at 9am, with her Celebration of Life service following at 10am, officiated by Pastor Matt and Claudia Stephens. Following Candis' celebration of life service will be refreshments and fellowship until 12pm, at which time her family and anyone who wishes to attend her burial will travel to Candis' final resting place at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43223, where she will be laid to rest next to her mother, Goldie Ashby.
