Carole Sue Thurman (Zimmerman), age 76, of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. She was born on November 6, 1936 in Anderson, Indiana. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1954 she attended Holy Cross School of Nursing (Notre Dame), where she received her RN degree in 1957. While working as a nurse at St. John's Hospital in Anderson, she attended Anderson College, pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology. On December 20, 1959 she married Eldon E. Thurman and moved to Findlay, Ohio in 1962. She worked as a nurse at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay from 1962 until she retired in 1987. She graduated from Findlay College in 1964 with a bachelor's degree. Carole and Eldon moved to Columbus in 1987 and became faithful members of Meadow Park Church of God. She is preceded in death by her mother Beulah Zimmerman. Carole is survived by her loving husband, Eldon; daughter, Suzanne (Bryan) Vickery of Huntsville, Alabama; sons, Kevin and Mark, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Margaret, Charlie, and Andrew Vickery of Huntsville; one sister, Ruth (Carlos Ripley) Zimmerman of Indian Wells, California; one brother, Gene (Joyce) Zimmerman of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family and by her faithful companion, grand-dog Max. Visitation will be Monday, July 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. Northwest Chapel, 2990, Bethel Road, Columbus. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Meadow Park Church of God, 2435 Bethel Rd. Pastor Tim Julian officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus.
