Catherine Marie Cooney of Columbus, OH passed away peacefully July 8, 2012. Cathy as she liked to be called was born 1939 in Callan County, Kilkenny Ireland to George and Anne Cooney, and was raised in County Cork, S. Ireland. Cathy moved with her family to England at age 14, and then immigrated on her own to the U.S.A. April 1963. After spending a couple years in Mineola, Long Island working as a governess, she moved to Columbus, OH and settled. Cathy attended and graduated from Bliss College for Business Administration in 1972. She worked for Lazarus downtown Columbus, and 20 yrs for the Bureau of Employment Services where she retired. During her lifetime she was a faithful saint and attendee of St Agnes Church(Father Metzer), Oakgrove Apostolic Church(Pastor John Palmer) & Grace Apostolic Church(Pastor Ron Tiller/Pastor Robert Linder). She was a member of Dodge Senior Center, and an avid walker in many charity races. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents George & Anne Cooney, sisters Margaret Slater & Mary Kelley, brother in laws Bill Glita & Keith Wooldridge, sister-in-law Joan Cooney. She is survived by her son Rev. Joseph Cooney(daughter-in-law Fanny Cooney & grandson Jaylon Cooney), siblings Phil Cooney, Ann Glita(sons Bil & George), Patrick Cooney(wife Doreen & children), and Teresa Wooldridge(daughters Sarah & Hannah)(Phil Kelley & children) and many great nieces & nephews.
