Chandra Lee
Vandewater
Sep 23, 1956 — Feb 10, 2025
Chandra (Chandy) Lee VanDeWater, 68, of Canal Winchester Ohio, left this earth unexpectedly on Monday February 10, 2025. A pillar of strength and love, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will forever echo in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. If you knew her, she was your friend. She was a devoted wife, mother and Nana, and deeply loved each one of her family members and friends. Chandy's love wasn't just reserved for her family, but for everyone she met. If you mentioned you needed help, she found a way to help you. She could talk your ear off, but she could also sit and listen to someone for hours. She had one lifelong love, her husband Jim, whom she had been married to for 46 years. Jim took great care of her throughout her lifelong battle with MS. She loved him immensely. She worked as a dental assistant for many years, then Bank of Ohio with other jobs, retiring a few years ago. Mom had a knack for picking out the most specific, beautiful card tailored to the person she was giving it to. It drove my dad nuts that she took so long looking through cards at the store, until she found the perfect one. Drug Mart was her favorite store that she looked forward to going to and then getting an iced capp from Tim Hortons on her way home. She also leaves behind 4 dogs, Tink, Josie, Ellis and Lucy, who are so lost without her. Mom had a lot of joy in giving gifts to people. She loved leaving salt and pepper shakers on her oldest granddaughter's window ledge whenever she was at her house. One of her greatest joys in life was hearing her granddaughter Eva was being named after her mother, Eva Waggoner. Whenever she saw her oldest grandson Nik, she always called him a punk. They both loved to tease each other. She looked forward to her hugs from her grandson Ty, because he hugged her so tight and with such love, never walking away from her until they hugged. She always looked forward to her homemade gifts from her granddaughter Irelynn and treasured each one of them. She was always proud of her granddaughter Brooke for always coming over to help her with the dogs or whatever she needed help with. She would call her granddaughter Lexie at college and let her know she was thinking of her and how proud she was of her. She leaves behind six great grandchildren and one great-grandson she didn't get to meet, but was so excited about knowing her granddaughter Eva was having a boy.
Mom leaves behind two daughters, Erica and Jami. She always said she could take Jami's orneriness over Erica's moodiness, but she loved them equally. She called Jami on the phone almost every day. She always wanted to know what was going on with everyone and how everyone was. She would then tell you about the news, or her favorite show. Her favorite show was Tracker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry C and Eva G Waggoner (Townsend), sister Cheryl Waggoner and brother Danny Waggoner.
Chandy is survived by her husband, Jim VanDeWater, Daughters Erica (Lee) Stewart-VanDeWater, Jami (Uhel) VanDeWater, grandchildren; Kara (TJ) Duty, Eva (Chase) Baltzer, Nikolas Seman, Brooke Spann, Tyree Spann, Alexis Spann and Irelynn Stewart. Great-grandchildren Bentley, Amelia, Zoey, Cameron, Abigail, KJ and baby boy Baltzer. Bonus step-grandchildren Cody, Isiah and Anna. Beloved cousins Jackie Gillogly and Joyce Skinner.
In honor of Chandy's generous spirit, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with funeral expenses to Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home-Groveport Chapel 587 Main Street, Groveport Ohio 43125.
