Cynthia Marie Shepherd, age 63, of Ashville, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026. Born on July 29th, 1962, in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Virgil and the late Nancy (Bledsoe) Bowman.

Cynthia was a woman of deep devotion—a loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. Known for her sharp mind and nurturing spirit, she spent much of her life as secretary or dedicated caregiver. When she wasn't caring for others or scheduling rooms at the Groveport Town Hall, she could often be found immersed in a book, solving sudoku puzzles, or enjoying a crime thriller or a classic Hallmark movie.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Bowman; her grandparents, Champ and Hazel Bledsoe and Virgil and Myrtle Bowman; her brothers, Virgil and Vernon Bowman; her grandson, Xavier Jackson; her former father-in-law, Roy Lautenschuetz; and her former brother-in-law, Doug Shepherd. She is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Shepherd, Katherine (Alexander) Jackson, Lexie Shepherd, and Madeline Shepherd; her father, Virgil Bowman; and her grandchildren, Isabelle, Orion, Olivia, and Malakai. She is also survived by her sisters, Kimberly (Greg) McKinney and Melissa (Denver) Foor; her brother, David (Angie) Bowman; her ex-husband, Daniel Shepherd; her former mother-in-law, Bonita Lautenschuetz; her former brother-in-law, Donald (Beth) Shepherd; her "foster daughters," Kira Bowman, Heather (Mike) Williams, and Kyra (Dalton) Koetz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. The family will be holding a celebration of life at Madison Christian Church on May 16, 2026 at 5 pm.

Cindy will be missed by so many. She would have asked that everyone not mourn her loss, but instead remember and elevate any joy she brought into your lives.
