Darlene Margaret Chapman, age 89, of Reynoldsburg passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026 at her home. She was surrounded by her daughters Tammy, Jodie, and Kimberly and her beloved dog, Tempe.
Darlene was born on January 3, 1937 in Glencoe Minnesota. She attended Glencoe High School and was a member of the choir and the tumbling team. She continued her education to become an x-ray technician and pursued this career at North American Rockwell and Lucent (formerly Western Electric and AT&T). She later became a materials management specialist.
Darlene retired in 1999 and was then able to devote time to the many activities she loved. This included her volunteer work with TWIG #165, helping with fundraising events to benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital. She enjoyed social time with friends in their monthly Fun Bunch Card Club. She was an avid gardener and took pleasure in planting and tending to her gardens and flowers. She had a lifelong love of animals that began in high school when she worked at a veterinarian's office. She loved her many pets that she had throughout the years, including her current dog Tempe, who was her constant companion during Covid. Darlene's home was the hub for all holidays and celebrations and she appreciated spending time with family and her many wonderful friends. She especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Margaret Eggersgluess, her husband, Bobby Chapman, her brother, Merlin Eggersgluess, her grandson, Jason Kaufman and dear friend Ken Krebs. She is survived by her brother, Merle (Carol) Eggersgluess, sister, Sharon (John) Gray, sister-in-law Nyla Eggersgluess, her three daughters, Tammy Chapman (Bruce Christensen), Jodie (Rick) Mulherin and Kimberly (Andy) Hughes, grandchildren, Jeffrey Kaufman, Emily (Ben) Keller, Jacob (Allie) Kaufman, McKenzie Mulherin and Nick Mulherin (Gwenn Hann). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Riley Keller, Caleb Kaufman, Weston Keller, Knox Keller and Morgan Kaufman and many nieces and nephews.
