Obituary

On February 22nd, 2025, our "Southside Legend," Darryl Martin Bonner, gained his angel wings. Our world will never be the same without Darryl's beautiful smile, his huge loving heart, and his big bear hugs. To know Darryl was to love him; he lived an adventurous and courageous life, fiercely loving his friends and family. Darryl was always there to help others, support them, or even protect them if needed, but most of all, he was never afraid to show his love for you and he always had our back.  Darryl was a family man and was very protective and loved his family. He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed making them smile.  Darryl had a special impact on everyone's life he touched and many kids still call him Uncle D.  Our Brother Darryl will be forever missed by all and piece of our worlds will never be the same.

Darryl was preceded in death by his loving mother, Choycie Bonner; his supportive big brother, Tracy Bonner; and many other friends and family members who patiently awaited their reunion. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Britney L. Hutchison; and son, Chase Ryan Whittaker. Darryl was a proud grandfather to Wiley, Luna, and Nova whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by his Aunt, Marilyn Bonner; Uncle, Charles Bonner; cousins, Dana Bonner, Audrey Pringle, Leslie Seabrook; and many additional loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends who have become his Southside Family.

Darryl was a man of many roles and relationships. To some, he was a Dad, a son, a brother, a Pal Pal, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, a best friend, a soulmate, the stubborn one, the protector, and a passionate Dallas Cowboys and OSU fan. Darryl grew up playing little league baseball, which grew into his passion for playing softball and making lifetime memories with his "softball family." He created bonds with countless friends throughout the years, each relationship unique and treasured.

Darryl's legacy of love and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His generous spirit and the impact of his donation will forever mark him as a hero, who saved four lives. Darryl Martin Bonner will always be remembered, honored, and loved. We will miss our talks, warm embraces, and the love he never failed to show. Fly high, brother. Now that you have your wings, may you continue to shower us with your love and protection until we are reunited in the heavens above. We Love you Brother!
