Dimitrios Mamakas, age 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Kalymnos, Greece on July 2, 1934 to Apostolos and Stavroula (Gialousis) Mamakas. Dimitrios worked as a Chef for over forty years. Preceded in death by his parents, Apostolos and Stavroula Mamakas; beloved wife, Eugenia (Helidonas); brothers and sisters; godson, Elefterios Helidonas. Dimitrios is survived by his children, Maria (Manuel) Lagoutaris, Apostolos Mamakas, Eleutherios Mamakas and Stavroula Mamakas; five grandchildren; sister, Evangelia Ragie; brother-in-law, Demetrios (Efrosini) Helidonas; sister-in-law Eleni Mamakas; many nieces, nephews and relatives.

The Mamakas family will receive family and friends at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215, on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9:30 am until the funeral service, beginning at 10:30 am. Father Demetrios Gardikes and Father Isaac Williams officiating. The Makaria luncheon will take place directly after the service. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202.
