Dolly Jean (Maynard) Whitson, born December 31, 1952 in Wayne County, West Virginia and passed away after a long and beautiful life on August 24, 2026 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by loving family and friends. Dolly was a proud 1971 graduate of Central High School, Columbus, Ohio. For years she worked at Kmart but eventually retired as a legal secretary.

Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James A. ("Boobee") Whitson; mother Grace E. (Ward) Maynard; father, General Maynard; brothers Johnny Maynard, James Maynard, Billy Joe Maynard, David Maynard and Matthew Fowler; sisters Geraldine Maynard, Lilly (Maynard) Coleman, and Nora (Maynard) Dameron.

Survived by her sons, James S. Whitson (Devonna Murphy) and Bradford W. Whitson (Tina Fleisher); sisters Loretta (Maynard) Davis and Peggy (Maynard) Stanley; granddaughters, Lauren "Booger Face" Whitson (Aaron Slone), Sydney "Sydroo" Whitson (Isaiah Baker) and Grace "Monkey Butt" (Whitson) Reeder (Justin); one great granddaughter, Lucille Jean Reeder; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, August 31, from 5pm to 7pm and again on Tuesday, September 1 from 10am to 11am, at the O. R. WOODYARD COMPANY CHAPEL 1346 S. High Street, Columbus, Ohio where the funeral service will begin at 11am. Pastor Steve Snider to officiate. Interment will follow at Fernwood Cemetery.
