Dorothy F. French, age 82, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 25, 2013 at her home. Born on October 11, 1930 in Ashland, KY to the late William Harve Patrick and Dove Alice Chapman. Retired from General Motors. She loved her gardens, community and the several dogs she had over the years. She was a founding member of the Merion Village Civic Association, volunteered for a variety of activities over the years at Southwood and Reeb Elementary Schools and for such things as working with Jewish immigrants and collecting shoes and coats for local southside children. She received several plaques and certificates of appreciation from the schools, the Association, and the City Government of which she was very proud. She is survived by her son, Dale Darnell of Dublin and daughter, Karen French of Mansfield. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Beth Darnell of Daphne, AL; sister, Nellie Marie Adkins of FL; niece, Alice (Jim) Kiser of Pickerington; nephews, Bill Adkins of FL and Ron (Cindy) Adkins of NC, Gary (Marsha) Adkins of SC; great nephew, Scott Kiser of Grandview; great niece, Kim (Patrick) McNeely of Pickerington; great-great nephews Lincoln, Luke, Chris, Mark and Wil. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Donald H. Patrick; sister-in-law Chloe Patrick; nephew Don Patrick Jr.; niece Debbie Patrick; great niece, Becky Kiser; daughter-in-law, Debbie Darnell. Special thanks to her friends Mary Haskins who shared a special sense of humor with Dorothy; Pauline who did so many things for her; and Sister Wilma whose laughter and friendship meant so much to Dorothy. High St. from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Ladislas Catholic Church, 277 Reeb Ave, in Columbus. Father Donald Franks officiating. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
