Obituary

Our beloved Mother, Eileen Renee (Brodsky) Caudill, passed away peacefully in Pickerington, Ohio on October 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born on December 2, 1943 to Jack and Rose (Freeman) Brodsky in Columbus, Ohio. She was a graduate of Bexley High School class of 1961. She retired from State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) as a keypunch/data-entry operator in 2004 after many years of service. During her tenure at STRS, she was proud to have been Head Fundraiser for an organization that raised funds to train "Companion Service Dogs" for the disabled. This organization provided multiple trained service canines to assist those in need. Her first love was her family. She loved her role as wife, mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her Jewish heritage and also supported her husband's Christian faith.  She had an enormous heart for all animals. Horses were a big part of her life from an early age. The love of horses spanned multiple generations. Her first horse was "Lady" and "Lady" gave birth to "Billie Sioux". Then she got "Tabby" for her daughter, Leslie, and together they shared a passion for 4H and showing horses. Her daughter Marcia also shared a passion for horses and competed in Barrel Racing. The love of horses continued with her granddaughter Jacey who trained and showed horses as well.  Her home was a sanctuary for creatures of all kinds. She loved and lost some very special dogs in her lifetime. Of special mention are Trixie, Tammy, Mandy, Zoey and Murfee.

Eileen was happily married to her husband J.C. Ray Caudill for 33 years until his death on April 9, 1998. He was the one and only love of her life, together they shared four daughters and a lifetime love of music as Ray was a professional musician. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rose Brodsky, her husband J.C. Ray Caudill, her brother David A. Brodsky, her sister Sharon L. Williams and very dear friend Doris Henderson.

She is survived by her daughters Michelle (James) Ihasz of Nixa, MO. Leslie (Tommy) Mayes of Groveport, OH. Marcia (Rob) Young of Chagrin Falls, OH and Theresa Caudill of Worthington, OH. Grandchildren Jacey Mayes (Cody Hartranft), Mackenzie (Greyson) Roberts, Logan Mayes (Emily Wielgopolski), Dylan Ihasz, Amanda Johnson and Jared Johnson. Great-grandchildren Isabelle, Ella and Bentley along with many nieces and nephews.

Eileen had many deep, long-lasting friendships throughout her lifetime which is a testimony to her character. She will be missed by so many. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and now great-grands. She loved big and left this world a better place.
