Elizabeth "Betty" Bowshier (Griswold) Russell, age 91, passed away peacefully with family by her side on the morning of June 18, 2020. She was born in 1929, in Mechanicsburg, OH to the late Arthur and Rose Bowshier. Betty proudly served in the Women's Army Corps during the Korean Conflict, and she was stationed in Yokohama, Japan, as a medical administrator. Later on, in the late 1960's, she was employed by Columbus & Southern Electric Co. (AEP) in the Credit Department and retired from AEP in the mid-90's. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Raymond A. Griswold (1963), her second husband of 45 years, Byron D. Russell (2015), her parents, Arthur and Rose, and her siblings, Eldon Bowshier, James Bowshier, Ray Bowshier, and Margie (Bowshier) Brubaker. Betty is survived by sons, Douglas (Kim) Griswold, Kent (Sheila) Russell, Gregg (Barbara) Russell, and daughter, Gayle Ann Russell; her "Brazilian son", Jose' Humberto Gebrim of Brasilia; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other dear friends and family. Betty loved working jigsaw puzzles, brain teasers, funny jokes, reading history, working in her flower garden, and feeding her wild birds. She and Byron traveled extensively throughout the country in their motorhome as RVers. With her husband Byron, they traveled to Hawaii several times, Europe (twice), and Brazil. She had a steadfast and abiding faith in God and Jesus. She, as a Korean War Veteran, was very fortunate to have been able to attend a Columbus Honor Flight to Washington D.C in October 2015 with her husband, Byron (a WWII veteran). A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Rd in Groveport, OH 43125.
