Ethel Lavone Harris, 89, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at 2:33 a.m., as she was called to her eternal home to be with Jesus. Lavone was born on October 27, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio, to Claude and Dolly Tedder. Her greatest calling was being a wife and mother. After her children were grown she worked for Columbus Public Schools as a teacher's aide at Cedarwood Elementary for several years.
She was known for her enduring strength and love of her family, including her love of Jesus. Lavone was an active and faithful member of Eastland Christian Church for many years. She was a woman of many talents. She was very artistic. She also loved music, played the mandolin and sang with her brother, Ralph in younger years. She enjoyed painting and making crafts, and she spent much of her free time fishing and camping.
Lavone is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl, parents Claude and Dolly Tedder, brother Ralph, son Chet, and granddaughter, Kari. She is survived by four children: Carla (Wayne) McCloud, Caryn MacDonald, Craig (Sondie) Harris, and Chris (Sandy) Harris; Twelve grandchildren: Shawn (Dawn) McCloud, Cherie (Chris) Mehan, Shelly (Brandon) Huthmaker, Shane (Erin) Harris, Tiffany Reid, Amy (David) Lanning and Skylar Lanning, Brittany Harris, Erica (Anthony) Criado, Tracie (Nathan) Wilson, Stephanie McCloud, and Carl Harris; Sixteen Great Grandchildren: Zachary (Emilie) Mehan, Conner (Maggie) McCloud, Elijah (Taylor) Mehan, Alyssa Reid, Chloe Mehan, Brooke Reid, Cameron McCloud, Claire (Joel) Dittoe, Hannah Huthmaker, Grant Huthmaker, Jacob Reid, Emily Mehan, Serenity Harris, Ella Harris, Evan Harris, and Colin Wilson; Four Great-Great Grandchildren: Elliot, Emilia, Greyson, and Piper. She loved and was loved by many. Her legacy will live on forever.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2024, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at O. R. Woodyard Co. South Chapel, 1346 South High Street
Where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 1:00 pm Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
