Eunice "Mabel" (Ballard) Thompson, 79, of Orient (Columbus), OH, passed away on July 10, 2016 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born on December 9, 1936 to Phillip H. and Delphia Lorene (Gross) Ballard at Commerce, MO. She retired from Value City and had been in poor health the past year. Mabel loved gardening, listening to bluegrass and country music, dog-watching the family dog, Ruger. She was married first to Samuel L. Bounds of Poplar Bluff, MO, who preceded her in death. They had two sons Phillip A. Bounds and Cecil N. Bounds. Mabel later married Clyde Thompson, of Columbus, OH. They had one daughter, Sandra of Orient, OH. She was preceded in death by her later husband Clyde; two brothers, James Fenton and William "Sonny" Ballard, and her parents. Surviving along with her daughter and two sons are sisters: Dixie Beatrice Bounds of Poplar Bluff, MO, Mary Deda Pollard of Pollard, AR, and Phyllis K. Ballard of Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX; brother Albert Ballard of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren: Jessica Jones of Orient, OH, and Meagan Bounds of Ellington, MO; and one great-grandchild, Sadie Bounds of Ellington, MO. No funeral services are planned and the immediate family will announce memorial plans at a later date.
