Evelyn Marie Mowbray, 85, known to her loved ones as Evelyn or Auntie E, passed away on September 25, 2023, in Canal Winchester, Ohio. She was born in Ross County, Ohio on December 21, 1937. Evelyn was a beloved wife, sister, and foster mother, leaving behind her husband of sixty-four years, Charles, and her son Jim. She also leaves her sisters Jane Bishop of Cary, N.C., and Ruth Hawkes of Lancaster OH, as well as her brothers Jerry King of Frankfort OH and Jim King of S.C. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilmer and Ruth Raver King, and her brothers John, Arthur, and Tom. Evelyn graduated from Frankfort High School in the class of 1955. She then worked for ten years at the Columbus Public Library before dedicating herself to being a homemaker. Evelyn found joy in being a foster mother, providing a loving home for more than twenty foster children. Evelyn attended Madison Christian Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, many bus trips, and her flower garden, nurturing and tending to her beloved plants. A Celebration of Life Service for Evelyn will be held at Madison Christian Church, 3565 Bixby Rd. Groveport OH 43125, on Saturday, October 21, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Madison Christian Church in honor of Evelyn's memory. Evelyn Marie Mowbray will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, love, and dedication to her family and foster children will always be remembered. May she rest in peace.
