Forrest Eugene "Gene" Jones, son of the late Orville E. Jones and Etta M. Weed, was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 22, 1959 and went home to meet the Lord on December 18, 2024 at the age of 65 years. Gene went to Canal Winchester High School, Class of 1977. In high school his nickname was "Trees". He was a favorite of the high school English teachers and was very good in creative writing and English. He was also a good artist. Gene had an infectious humor and liked to tell jokes and pretend he was one of his favorite comedians like Tim Conway. After high school Gene joined the Navy and traveled the world. He was a hard worker his entire life. His occupational skills included construction, ready mix, and warehouse inventory and management skills. For recreation Gene enjoyed spending time fishing with his father and brothers until his health began to decline in his later years. Eugene was a cat lover and he leaves behind his two cats Simba and Patches. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Etta Jones and wife Kimberly Bowles Jones. He is survived by his son Heath (Angela) Jones and grandsons Garrett and Jacob; stepson Kenny (Jessica) Campbell; brothers Rev. Alan (Marie) Jones and Rev. Rick (Janet) Jones and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at O. R. WOODYARD CO. South High Chapel, 1346 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio on Friday, January 3, 2024, from 12 pm until time of memorial service at 2 pm.  Rev. Dr. Brian Jones officiating.
