Smith Frank "Gene" Smith, age 92, of Groveport, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 26, 2016. U. S. Navy Veteran. Retired after 42 years at Buckeye Steel Casting Co. He was a member for 70 years of the Masonic Heber Lodge 501 of Williamsport, Ohio. Gene was a member of the Kentucky Colonels and was a 42 year member of the Southeast Shrine Club. Member of the Tri-County Sportsmen's Club. Past member of the Groveport City Council for 16 years. Preceded in death by his wife Mary, daughter Marsha Playko, great granddaughter Emma Fout. Survived by son, Blaine (Wynona) Smith; grandsons, Brian (Andrea) Smith, Nick (Bonnie) and Mark Playko; granddaughters, Kelly (Ryan) Matsudaira, Kristin Smith and Megan (Robert) Fout; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at the MYERS-WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME, 587 Main Street in Groveport, where the funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. Masonic Service will be Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Interment Forest Cemetery in Circleville.
