Gail Marie (McLean) Durbin, 79, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

She is survived by her brother Clifford (Gabriele) McLean, of Covina, California, and sister-in-law Hazel (Durbin) McCormick, of Coshocton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gail had no children.

Gail is preceded in death by her husband Robert Durbin and parents Walter and Beatrice (Starkey) McLean of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; sisters Barbara (Robert) Schray, of Stow, Ohio, and Janet (Richard) Allis, of Peachtree City, Georgia.

The youngest of four children, Gail was born December 7, 1945, and lived nearly all of her life in Cuyahoga Falls. She married Bob Durbin, May 29, 1966, and was happily married to Bob for 45 years, until his death in 2011. Since then, Gail has been an active member of the Falls Cancer Club, providing support and comfort to cancer victims and their families.

Gail was known by all as a cheerful, loving, and giving person, to whom everyone was a friend. Her greatest delight was caring for dozens of young children over many years, together with her husband. They often had a house full of kids. In her later years, Gail was thrilled when she got a surprise visit from one of "Gail's kids" from the past.

Gail has attended the Church of Christ, in Cuyahoga Falls, now known as the Church in the Falls, all her life. She was active in the church's many activities, and especially loved the Ladies' Bible Class and Ladies' Retreats.

Gail's early life was very difficult, because of physical problems that were present at her birth. Her survival was touch-and-go, and she underwent many operations as an infant and young child. She knew her way around a hospital, and was often seen wandering the hospital wards, chatting with other patients of all ages. This was, apparently, where she learned to be so open and friendly to everyone that she met.

Gail's family wants to thank the community at the Church in the Falls, and her good friends Dave Oddo and Katie Ruhl, for giving Gail so much loving support over the last several years.

A Celebration of Life for Gail is planned for 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, at the Church in the Falls, 837 Chestnut Boulevard, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Her family and friends would love to hear personal stories about Gail's life. A luncheon will follow at the church's fellowship hall.

Gail's ashes will be buried next to Bob's at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron on Monday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church in the Falls or to the Falls Cancer Club.
