Helen J. Kanatas, born March 8, 1916, passed quietly from this life on June 20, 2011, at the age of 95, at Altercare of Hilliard. She was the only child of the late John and Katherine (Hanes) Prapas. On November 20, 2009, after 71 years of marriage. Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas. She also outlived several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Denny Mardas; grand-children, Elaine (John) Albrecht, Tim (Amy) Mardas; great-grand-children, Kelsey and Tyler Hooghe, AnneElise Albrect, Madeline, Bergan, Gavin Mardas; very dear cousin, Elizabeth Hanes Petropoulos; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Mary Kanatas of California; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, God children and friends. NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd., Thursday 5-8 p.m. with Trisagon Service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 555 N. High St., Friday 11 a.m. Presbyter Reverend Michael Kontos Jr. Economos and Presbyter Pantelemon Maillis officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
