Helen C. Kost passed away on June 19, 2024, at the age of 101 in the loving company of dear friends. Born Olenka Cimbanin on October 9, 1922, in Snina, Czechoslovakia, to Maria and Johann "Andy" Cimbanin, she came to the U.S. at age 2 and grew up on a farm in Newton Falls, Ohio. She married Harry Kost in 1943, living in Warren and Alliance until retiring to Columbus in 1985.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Andrew and Michael Cimbanin, and sisters Mary Cimbanin and Annie (Joseph) Kunitz. She is survived by brother-in-law Dr. Richard (Jean) Kost of Newhall CA and grandniece Gretchen (Benjamin) Layman of St. Charles IL.

Everyone who knew Helen remembers her quick, warm smile and easy sense of humor. She loved gardening, baking, sewing, reading, watching Perry Mason, her cat, Sammy, and especially sharing her sunshine with other people.

Helen was a Jehovah's Witness since age 5 and an active member of the Columbus Northwest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for nearly 40 years.

Calling hours will be at O.R. Woodyard Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2990 Bethel Road, Columbus,OH 43220 on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 2:00pm with a short service at 4:30pm. Friends and visitors are welcome.
