Hugh Bennings Compton Jr., Age 84 passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022. Born on December 26, 1937 in Millersport, Ohio to the late Hugh (Ben) and Ada Compton. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou (Bryan) Compton, daughter Tammy, and brother Lewis Compton. He is survived by his son, H. Rick (Vicki) Compton; grandsons, Scot (Gina) Compton, Nick (Sarah) Compton; great grandchildren, Camryn, Blake and Harper; brothers, Bill (Sharon) Compton, Clyde (Constance) Compton; sister-in-law, Cathy Compton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Known by most as "Hughie" he grew up in Brice, OH and lived in Groveport, OH, St Louis, MO and finally Amanda, OH. He loved NFL football and the Buckeyes and his many dogs. For many years he rode motorcycles and was a member of the Central Ohio Competition Riders. Hughie graduated from Groveport Madison High School in 1957 and was a Navy veteran. He worked many years as a truck driver, retiring from Texaco/Chevron Oil Company. Family and Friends may gather Friday, November 18th from 1:30 pm until the time of memorial service at 3:00 pm at Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home 587 Main St. Groveport, Ohio 43125. Family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Lakeview Crossing for their care of Dad. Also many thanks to the staff of Capital City Hospice for their support and care during Dad's final days.
