Loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend, Jacklyn "Jackie" Kerns's love for life did not come to an end with her death. Jackie passed away on August 22, 2022, at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Born on December 2, 1941, in Ashville, OH, Jackie always dreamed of more than she had. Her hustle, commitment, and infectious personality would guide her to have a successful career at Crane Plastics for nearly 25 years. Even once she retired, she was restless and found part time jobs to keep her busy. Jackie loved life and the simplest things brought her joy. She loved to bring people together and enjoyed hosting for every occasion. Music always filled her home, including sing-a-longs around the kitchen table. Her garden always had the best vegetables, and she would never let you leave empty handed. She had the most generous heart, always putting others first. She was witty and always had a sassy response. Her beauty went far beyond her looks, but often left you without words. She was incredibly devoted to her family. Jackie is preceded in death by parents Herbert and Maggie Sturgell. She leaves behind her brothers, William "Bill" Brotherton, Jeff B. Sturgell, and sister, Hazel Wack; a son, Richard Kerns (w. Justine d. Tiffany, Tabitha s. Colin); a daughter, Kim Fitzek (h. Steve, d. Tonya, Theresa); stepdaughters, Vickie Helton, Shiela Hanlin, Kay Laney, Theresa Martin, Carol Newren; 18 grandchildren and 3 grandpups. The family will receive friends and visitors at the O. R. Woodyard Groveport Chapel, 587 Main Street, on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 4 to 6PM. In lieu of flowers and to honor Jackie's philanthropic heart, the family encourages donations be made in her honor to your favorite charity. Cemetery Details Cremation-No cemetery at this time.
