James A. Montgomery, age 84, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 13, 2020. James was born on February 22, 1936 in Pataskala, Ohio to Sylvia and Elba Montgomery. James is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings; sisters Pauline, Esther, Cora Evelyn, Clara Mae and brothers Forest Raymond and Sonny. James is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Bossert; his children, Teresa (Robert) Johnson, Susan (Raymond) Hough and James (Lawanda) Montgomery. Grandchildren, Raymond (Apryl) Tanner, Michael (Stacy) Tanner, Tisha (Ben) Hough, Erika (Steven) Hough, Kristin (Shannon) Hough, Michael (Lexie) Bailey, Angelia Bailey. Great Grandchildren Courtney, Kyle, Joshua, Nat hanial, Austin, Alex, Jaelin, Kameren, Mikalynn, Kadance, Nevaeh, Raylynn, Rylen, Justin, Dillon, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Jaxon and newest great granddaughter arriving soon. Also, several Great Great Grandchildren. James proudly served in the US Army and retired from the Southwest Licking School Systems. James had a wonderful sense of humor making many people laugh along with him as he journeyed through life. He enjoyed telling stories, living adventurously and often on a whim. He explored nature via long walks and could be found stargazing. He loved roller coasters, train, helicopter and plane rides. His favorite past time was to take long scenic rides in the country reciting stories of the places he would pass. His family and friends will cherish the memories that they have and look forward to joining him in Heaven in the future. Due to Covid19 a private immediate family service will be held Tuesday April 21, 2020 at the OR Woodyard Chapel 1346 S. High St. Interment Pataskala Cemetery.
