James Daniel Adkins, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2019. He was born on March 31, 1983 to his parents, Howard "Sleepy" Adkins and Emma Liston of Columbus, OH. His wife, Rebel, was the most beautiful woman in the world to James, and he said when she walked in the room, his heart skipped a beat. And his children, Baby James and Dixie, were the twinkle of his eye, the smile on his face, and the beat of his heart. Anyone who really got to know James knows how proud he was to serve his country, but his most valued accomplishment was his family. They were his entire world. If you were lucky enough to get to know him, you weren't his friend, he considered you family. To those who loved him, he was the kindest, most funny and generous man. He would be there in a heartbeat for anyone he loved. James, you will forever be in our thoughts and our hearts. Your memories will last forever. We know you are now our guardian angel, and I hope you're in peace and you know that your beautiful family have many people to help them through this horrible time. Rest knowing that the people you call family are showering them with a lot of love and will bring them peace and happiness. James is preceded in death by his father, Howard "Sleepy" "Mike" Adkins, and his grandparents, Howard and Elizabeth Adkins. He is survived by his wife of 10 loving years, Rebel L. Adkins; son, James D. Adkins II; daughter, Dixie L. E. Adkins; mother, Emma Liston; several brothers and sisters, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends may gather from 5 pm until the time of service at 7:30 pm on Monday, July 15, 2019. There will be a military committal service for James on Wednesday, July 17th at 10 am at the Dayton National Cemetery.
