Mills
Feb 6, 1957 — Feb 8, 2026
James Lee Mills, affectionately known as "Deedle," was born on February 6, 1957, and passed away on February 8, 2026. He spent most of his life in the Columbus, Ohio area, where he became known for his energetic spirit, creative mind, and natural ability to solve any problem put in front of him. He truly never knew a stranger and had a gift for making people feel instantly welcome.
James worked the majority of his life in HVAC and retired from Favret in November of 2025. He was known as the guy who could always figure out the tough, complicated situations. Whether it was at work or in everyday life, people turned to him when they needed answers, help, or simply someone who wouldn't give up until things were fixed.
He shared the last nine years of his life with his loving partner, Karen Lazorishak, with whom he built a life and home filled with companionship and meaningful moments.
James was preceded in death by his stepson, Domonick Oguich; his father, James Mills, and stepmother, Jane Mills; his mother, Joanne Gibson, and stepfather, Theodore Gibson; his sister, Leola Martinez; and his brothers, Donald Mills and Joey Mills.
He is survived by his children, Johanna Watkins (Nathaniel), Kristinia Armine (Chad), Joshua Mills, Jade Mills, and Kristopher Mills, and his grandchildren, Nichole, Kyla, Avery, John, Ethan, Anakin, Ares, Ezra, Angel, Summer, Izzy, Johanna, David, Domonick, Kaleigh, Zayden, Payton, Iven, Mason, Bryson, and Xavion. Survived by brothers Jesse, Archie, and Micheal, and sisters Marsha and Joanie. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, as well as many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence, his creativity, and his generous heart.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM at O.R. WOODYARD Co. Northwest Chapel, 2990 Bethel Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
