James "Jim" E. Mitchell, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center in Columbus, OH. Jim was born August 29, 1936, in Peebles, OH to the late Alton and Freda Mitchell. He proudly served as a cook in the Army National Guard. He later retired from the Bexley Police Department. Jim never met a stranger and could inject humor into any situation. He loved spending time with his family and took much pride in those he loved. Jim also had a strong relationship with God and was a longtime member of Madison Christian Church. Jim is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Patsy Mitchell; grandson, Pietro Antonio Morrone; and sisters, Mary and Beverly. He is survived by children, Debbie (Wayne) Morrone, Michael Mitchell, and Kimberly (Bob) Gearheart; grandchildren, Angela, Christopher (Shannon) and Kelsey; great grandchildren, Peyton, Kash, Gemma, and Nora. Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to the MYERS-WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME in Groveport, OH. Jim will be laid to rest at the Groveport Cemetery in Groveport, OH.
