James P. Smith (JP), age 53, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio passed away December 4, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born February 6, 1969 to the late Katherine (Allen) Batis and father John Smith of Cleveland, Ohio. Also preceded in death by mother-in-law Donna Short, of Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a father to Jason Smith, and a loving husband to Larry Short. James was a brother to Jerry (Lorellei) Smith and Jeff (Dawn) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio. James was also a brother-in-law to Mike Johnson and David Rose, Shelly and Rob McGuire of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Marie Miller of Circleville, Ohio. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as many close friends in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio. Visitation will be held Thursday December 15, 2022, from 4-7pm at O.R. Woodyard Co. South High Street Chapel 1346 S. High St. There will also be a memorial service for James held on December 19, 2022 at 11am at Christian assembly 25595 Chardon Rd. Richmond Heights, Ohio 44143.
