James ("Jimmy") E. Spencer, 87, went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2026. Born November 14, 1938, Jimmy had a deep and unwavering faith in God that guided his life and brought so much love throughout his years. He was a devoted and longtime member of Hilock Fellowship Baptist Church, where he proudly dedicated his life to the Lord in November 2019.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tommie Jean Spencer, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was filled with love, family, friendship, and countless memories that Jimmy cherished throughout the years.

He is survived by his daughter and greatest blessing, Debra Jean (Harry) Lindimore, his favorite and only child; his baby girl Bella, his cat who kept him company for so many years; brother-in-law Paul (Shirley) Malone; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless wonderful friends who held a very special place in his heart.

Jimmy retired after 28 years of dedicated service with Clear Channel. Retirement gave him the opportunity to do the things he loved most. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved visiting his family and friends in Paintsville, KY and Florida. He loved attending gospel sings and spending time with those closest to him.

Jimmy truly loved life. He had an incredible ability to find joy in the everyday moments and made everyone around him feel welcome and loved. He was known for his constant smile and infectious laugh. Jimmy never met a stranger; his genuine warmth and love for people created friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Jimmy lived his life with a grateful heart, a wonderful sense of humor, a love for people, and an unwavering faith in God. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, family, and the many friends whose lives he touched.

Although his absence leaves an enormous void, there is comfort in knowing that Jimmy is now at peace, reunited with the love of his life, his beloved Tommie Jean, and in the presence of the Lord he loved and faithfully served.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at O.R. Woodyard Co. South High St. Chapel, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, OH. The service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Michael Back officiating. Internment will take place at Obetz Cemetery.
