Janet Kay (Harris) Huffman, age 78, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Friday October 11, 2024, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born August 9, 1946, to the late Hazella June and Gerald Harris. Janet attended Brookhaven High School and then lived her dream of raising a family. When her oldest children were school-aged, she worked as a lunch lady at Northtowne Elementary School. Together, she and her husband Paul, owned and operated their business, Items Galore for over 25 years, while she also watched many of her grandchildren giving them a lifetime of memories. She attended Etna High Point Church for several years and will be remembered for her devotion to her church, family, and friends.
Janet is survived by her children, Brenda (Kenny) Mahr, Kim (Steve) Duncan, Tim (Carrie) Clayton, and Nicole Dalton with whom she lived for many years, sister and best friend, JoEllen (Allen) Wheeler, brothers Gerald (Anita) Harris and Jeff (Carol) Harris. She loved being "Mamaw" and "Meme" to her grandchildren, Matthew Mahr, Adam (Morgan) Mahr, Jonathan (Megan) Mahr, Seth (Emily) Casto, Shannon (Anthony) Pearson, Allie (Tyler) Kensler, Tommy Clayton, Hunter Dalton, Justin Van Antwerp, and Matt Falkner. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Hayden, Bryson, Parker, Avery, Mason, Quinn, Elsie, Margot, Zayne, Zander, Lainey, Lyla, Misty, and Mia.
Janet will be greatly missed by other members of her extended family, including her special niece, Cathy (Scott) Adkins and her family, and treasured cousin Rosemary "Cookie" (Ray) Davis, as well as members of the blended family she and Paul created together. She will also be dearly remembered by friends Janet Gump and Richard and Anna Mae Petrovich.
Janet was preceded in joining the Lord by her husband of over 30 years, Paul Huffman; daughter, Shannon VanAntwerp, her first husband and father of her three oldest children, Timothy Merle Clayton, and her infant son, Thomas Corwin Clayton.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Pfeifer-Woodyard Funeral & Cremation Services, 7915 E. Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 with Pastors Steve Swisher and Jonathan Mann officiating. The family will welcome friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m, with the memorial beginning at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Janet's name, spreading her love and generosity.
