JANET Elaine Kauffman of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025 surrounded by family. She was 88 years old.

JANET was born on December 21, 1936 to the late Howard K and Esther Slack in Columbus at White Cross Hospital. She graduated from Westerville High School in 1954 and married in 1956. Janet was a wife, homemaker, and mother of four children in those early years. Later on, she worked as a Kelley Girl which led to an assignment with the Ohio Department of Highway Safety, which then lead to a career of working for the State of Ohio until her retirement, including many years at the State House, the Ohio State University, and finally the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

JANET loved animals, especially her cats. She also loved art, music, old movies, reading, and traveling. But she loved her family more than anything - especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called her "Queenie". JANET was deeply loved by her family in return, as well as by her friends. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents JANET was preceded in death by her brother William Kendall Slack.

She is survived by her children, Henry K Kauffman Jr., Howard, Ralph Kauffman, Kristi Elaine (Harlin Goins) Kauffman, and Kurt Douglas Kauffman; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sharon Slack; four nieces; one nephew; and a very special friend Richard Winter.

A service will take place at Pfeifer-Woodyard Funeral Home, 7915 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068, at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 21, 2025, and will be officiated by Pastor Kendall J Kauffman. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday.

A committal service will follow at Union Evangelical Cemetery, 10640 Snyder Church Rd., Baltimore, OH 43105.
