It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Dowden, who left us on June 2, 2024 on his 72 birthday. Jim passed away peacefully at the Kobacker House after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born on June 2, 1952, Jim lived a life full of energy and passion.

Jim was a dreamer and had many hobbies and interests. Everyone that knew Jim appreciated his contagious personality and knack for making others smile with his quick wit. He spent his life pursing those passions and sharing it with those around him. As a man with many talents, Jim worked as a roofer where he was known for his exceptional skill. Outside of his work Jim had a passion for music and playing the guitar which brought joy and inspiration to others.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Dowden; brother, Danny Dowden. He is survived by his mother Ruby (Ray) Cook; children, Sherry Hudson; Brian Dowden; Joyce (Brad) Huff; brothers, David (Donna) Dowden; and Pete Hall; sister, Joyce Dowden; grandchildren, McKenna Hudson, and Travis Spriggs, special friend, Janie Pack and her children TJ Browning, Chad Browning, and Jason Pack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family invites all that knew Jim to join them in the celebration of his life on Wednesday June 5, 2024, from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am at O. R. Woodyard South St. Chapel 1346 S. High St. Columbus, Oh. 43207. Interment Obetz Cemetery.

Jim's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but we rejoice in knowing that we will see him again in heaven someday. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in Peace, Jim. You will be dearly missed.
