John Edward Byers, age 76, passed away on December 31, 2020. He was born at Whitecross Hospital in Columbus, OH on February 22, 1944. Retired from Jeffrey Mining and Capitol City Trailers Inc. John was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Ruth Byers Sr., stepmother, Wanda Byers, son, Scottie Byers, mother and father-in-law, Jarmon and Joyce Whitehurst, brother, Rex Byers, brothers-in-law, Freddy Whitehurst, Harold Stewart, and Ray Thompson. John is survived by his special loving wife of 41 years, Linda Faye (Whitehurst) Byers; sons, Barry (Michelle) and Brian (Sandy) Byers; grandchildren, Georgia, Ashley, Brandon, and Bradley Byers; brothers, Gilbert (Phyllis) Byers Jr., Phillip (Terry) Byers and Ray Byers; sisters, Ruth Thompson, Joan Stewart, and Dianna (Roger) Kelley. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, many other family and dear friends. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM at the O. R. Woodyard South Chapel, 1346 South High St., where the funeral will be on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment Franklin Hills Memorial Garden. Pastor Ralph Short officiating.
