John McGinnis Johnson Jr., 90, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on February 4th, 2021. John was born on December 1st, 1930 to Wilda (Triplett) and John McGinnis Johnson in Inez, KY. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 15. After a tour of duty in Japan during WWII, he returned home to KY. He re-enlisted at the age of 17, becoming a Sergeant and a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne division. John was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and serve his country. After being discharged, John came to Columbus, Ohio and worked at North American Aviation. He enrolled in Bliss College, where he studied accounting. He worked as a Teamster truck driver for over 20 years and as a bus driver for Columbus City Schools. Preceded in death by siblings, Lowell, Goldie, Irene, Hoover, and Ronald; former wives, Juanita Stepp, Mary Ann Parsley, and Katherine Morehart, and longtime friend, Alvin Pinson. Survived by wife, Jo-Ann Johnson, children, Terri (Jim) Gantner, Donna (Grant) Piche, Vickie (Tom) Castle, John M. Johnson III, Sherri Kiser, and Lisa Johnson; step-children, Tim (Linda) Castle, Tammy (Tom) McIsaac, Michael (Krisstina) Monzat; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and family members. Anyone who knew John knew that he was a loving, devoted, and proud patriarch to his large family.
